These relatives of the spider and scorpion are nasty biters that suck blood over a period of several days. Once a tick is on its host, it will crawl up to the head, biting around the ears, neck and scalp, where skin is thinner. (more…)

Termites Are Nastier Than You Think!

Fire Ants

CTA fire ants jsFire ants are incredibly sting-happy. They will sting any time they feel vibrations, including human movement. Yowzers!!

A typical fire ant colony produces large mounds in open areas, and feeds mostly on young plants,seeds and sometimes crickets. Fire ants often attack small animals and can kill them. Unlike many other ants, which bite and then spray acid on the wound, fire ants bite only to get a grip and then sting (from the abdomen) and inject a toxic alkaloid venom. (more…)
